What is abstract nature photography?
In this form of photography, the photographer chooses his/her own perspective. He/she invents and chooses a surprising, unexpected framing of subjects such as water, rocks, ice and macro details of leaves, flowers and in this workshop in particular, trees and/or wood. Often the context is missing. Abstract nature photography invites the viewer to stand still (a bit) longer at the details.
What makes something abstract?
Abstract comes from a Latin word meaning "drawn away, detached" and the basic idea is something that is detached from physical or concrete reality. It is often used for ideas, meaning that they are not clearly applicable to real life, and for art, meaning that it does not depict reality in a painterly way.
During this workshop we will go into nature (the forest) to look for images without context. We try to focus on the small, a macro lens and a telephoto lens are actually all you need. There are many ways to achieve these types of images and we will review the different possibilities and techniques.
The small group ensures that everyone gets plenty of attention to help them take better photos. Suitable for all levels and for all types of (digital) cameras.
